A Christmas Gift for Your Neighbor

A Christmas Gift for Your Neighbor is a Christmas initiative that gives groups and individuals an opportunity to send some Christmas joy and love to our neighbors in Puerto Rico. It's been over a year since Hurricane Maria devastated the Island and for thousands* of families, having blue tarps over their homes, instead of secure roofs, is still a reality. For only $400, your group can give the gift of a roof to one family.

We, at My Neighbor PR, have partnered with groups on the mainland and in Puerto Rico to make this kind of gift possible. Our partners provide man power, administration, and building services while your gift provides building materials.

We are inviting groups; schools, organizations, churches, friends, clubs, etc. to join us this season in not only wishing our neighbors a Merry Christmas but actually making it a reality.

How does it work?

1. Register your group
2. Start fundraising
3. Your supporters donate using the special link that we will send you
4. We let you know when someone donates so you can track your progress

*There are still some 45,000 homes with so-called “blue roofs,” or tarps installed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Sep 20, 2018

Our Mission

To be God's Hands and Feet

Our mission is to bring the love of Christ to those in Puerto Rico that are still struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which landed on the Island on September 20th, 2017. We come alongside communities where rescue efforts have been slow to arrive; typically, poor areas to begin with.

About Us

My Neighbor PR is made up of a group of individuals who simply want to serve God and His people. We came together after Hurricane Maria hit ground (and devastated a good portion of Puerto Rico) to help in any way we could. With God at the helm we established a 100% volunteer run and operated group. This allows us to put 100% of donations directly towards food, water, supplies, building materials and operational services.

Our administration office is in New Jersey, our short-term missions team is in Isabela, P.R., and our church team is in Quebradillas, P.R.

Just after the hurricane, we started bringing food and water to our most afflicted neighbors in remote locations. In October 2018 we built a house for a family that had been living in an abandoned school since the hurricane. In August 2018 we started rolling out plans to put up roofs in the town of Jayuya.

We believe that love comes with action. In 1 John 3:17 we read If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
